Meet Wayne: My Sprinter Adventure Van

Allow me to introduce Wayne, my beloved Sprinter Adventure Van. Named in honor of my late father, Duane, Wayne represents the adventures we never had a chance to take together. This journey began around May 2020, sparked by a desire to explore new horizons. True to my impulsive nature, I found myself purchasing a van within a month, brimming with excitement and plans to build it out myself, guided by countless YouTube tutorials.

Wayne started life as an old Amazon delivery van, complete with its quirks, and I quickly realized the project was more ambitious than I anticipated. Over the next two years, I enlisted the help of two contractors, neither of whom possessed the necessary expertise, which left me feeling overwhelmed and disheartened. By June 2023, my dream of adventure was feeling more like a distant fantasy, as my camper sat in pieces—frustratingly, not even fit for use.

However, my luck changed that summer. I decided to rent a van for a short trip to the coast. I couldn’t help but admire the convenience and style of the rental’s build and longed for the same experience with Wayne. Upon returning the van, I shared my struggles with its owner, Dean, who also happens to be the head designer at Funtrail West. T o my surprise, Dean offered to help complete my project, becoming the only person willing to tackle the issues left by previous contractors.

Thanks to the dedicated team at Funtrail West, Wayne underwent a remarkable transformation. Dean and his crew worked tirelessly to create the ultimate adventure van, tackling complex electrical issues, custom builds, and exchanging essential components. I am incredibly grateful for their expertise and patience. Without you, Dean and Funtrail West, I couldn’t have realized my dream. Here’s to many more adventures in Wayne, whoever may find them!
